Familiarizing with molecular biology definitions.

After knowing about the three macromolecules of molecular biology, thus DNA, RNA and proteins, I would love for us to go through a number of terms that we shall encounter and actually use a lot often along the way.

So here we go;
Let us start by understanding what molecular biology itself, it is the branch of the expanse field of biology dealing with structure and function of macromolecules essential to life.
So now,

 WHAT ARE MACROMOLECULES????

Simply presented, macromolecules are large  molecules necessary for life and built from smaller organic molecules, they are made up of simple single units 'monomers' that are joined by covalent bonds to form polymers.
Not to forget, there are four major classes of biological macromolecules namely;
--proteins
--nucleic acids
--carbohydrates
--lipids

TRANSCRIPTION???

This is the very first step of DNA based gene expression where by a particular segment of DNA is copied into RNA by enzyme RNA polymerase.

TRANSLATION???

This refers to conversion of RNA usually mRNA into a protein in DNA based gene expression.

HYBRIDIZATION???

This is a molecular biology technique in which molecules of single stranded DNA or RNA are bound to complementary sequences of either single stranded DNA or RNA.

Hybridization

TRANSFORMATION???

This is the genetic alteration of cells resulting from the direct uptake and incorporation of exogenous thus external genetic material through its cell membrane from its surrounding.
